Swing Stage Hoists - sky lock
 
The Sky Lock is an overspeed safety device. It acts as a brake in emergency situations e.g. breaking of a suspension rope or failure of hoist or motor. The Sky Lock is used in combination with Sky Climber hoists and acts on the suspension rope, safety line or both. Sky Locks can be purchased separately from hoists, but all hoists are sold with a Sky Lock included.

A Sky Lock is activated or tripped when:

  • overspeed is sensed
  • manually activated
  • sudden movement on platform is detected
  • vibrations are detected
  • reeving too rapidly
  • steel wire rope is damaged

Sky Lock II Secondary Safety Brake - 3/8” Rope use on Alpha 1500 and Alpha 800 hoists. Weighs 15 lbs.
